New Build Electrical — Common Questions

When should I bring an electrician onto a new build project?

Ideally at design stage — earlier engagement means cleaner cable routing, fewer changes mid-build. At minimum before plasterboard.

Do you work directly with main contractors or only homeowners?

Both. We've delivered as the electrical sub on 90-unit developments and as the lead electrician on one-off self-builds.

What does first fix vs second fix mean?

First fix is cable, back boxes and fixed wiring before plaster. Second fix is sockets, switches, lights and CU after plaster/decoration. We schedule both around your trades.

Do you supply the consumer unit and protection?

Yes — Hager boards as standard, full RCBO protection. Spec can be upgraded if you want surge protection, AFDD, or three-phase.
